Ingredients

  • 1 Bottle Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1 bowl pre-cut carrot/cabbage slaw
  • ¼ red onion cut into slivers (long)
  • ½ red bell pepper cut into strips (thin)
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp.  lime juice
  • 2 tbsp. Champagne Vinegar
  • ½ tsp. kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • ¼ cup virgin olive oil
  • 3-4 pounds chicken (6 chicken legs including thighs)

Home Preparation

  • Sauce: Mix the minced garlic and Jack Daniels BBQ sauce in a bowl. It would strengthen the taste of sauce overtime. Pour the sauce in a container having a leakproof lid
  • Chicken: Coat the chicken in the olive oil and pack it in the in a resealable plastic bag. After packing chicken, chill up to 2 days
  • Slaw: Take all the vegetables in a large bowl and toss them well. Now put the slaw in a resealable plastic bag and chill it. Mix all the dressing ingredients and keep them in a small container having a tight-fitting lid

  • Heat the grill with gas or charcoal. Let the dressing of salad warm to room temperature
  • Grill the chicken till it becomes brown, turn occasionally. Brush the sauce, once the initial browning is complete and cook it for few minutes. Repeat the brushing and cooking process every few minutes. Using a cooking thermometer check the chicken and ensure it is 160 degrees
  • Toss the dressing and slaw and serve with the chicken

2. Dutch Oven Camping Cake

If you wish to have a sweet and vegetarian camping food, oven camping cake is the best choice. The best thing about this recipe is that it is easy and tastes great with ice cream.

Ingredients

  • Food cake mix
  • 1 cup butter (Chilled and cut)
  • 50 ounces unsweetened mixed frozen berries
  • 2 ¼ cups sugar

Home Preparation

  • Mix the sugar with berries and keep it in a zip-lock bag
  • Chop the butter into small cubes

  • A fire pit or a charcoal grill is best for baking
  • Pour the berries in the Dutch oven up to 12 inches from the bottom. Now mix the berries with the food cake mix and place the butter cubes over the top of the mixture
  •  Without covering the fire pit or grill, bake the cake for around 20 minutes
  • The cake would bubble and gat the golden-brown colour. The presence of juices might take extra time of 10 minutes for baking
  • Set the cake aside for 20 minutes
  • You can serve the cake with ice cream or whip cream

3. Grilled Pizza

Grilled Pizza is an easy and time-saving camping meal. If you are camping with kids then this is the easiest food item that you can prepare.

Ingredients

  • Olive oil
  • Fresh Oregano
  • Pizza Sauce
  • Shredded parmesan cheese
  • Chopped garlic
  • Roma tomatoes
  • Fresh basil
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Naan bread

Home Preparation

  • Chop the garlic and tomatoes
  • Pack each ingredient in a separate zip-lock bag

  • Heat the olive oil and saute the chopped garlic
  • Add the fresh oregano to the garlic and stir it
  • Now spread pizza sauce as well as garlic mixture on the top of the bread. Instead of naan bread, you can also use the Focaccia of any type
  • Top the bread with the remaining ingredients
  • Once the topping is done, double wrap the pizza in foil
  • Place the foil-wrapped pizza on the grill with low heat
  • Grill the pizza until the bread becomes crispy and the cheese melts

4. Strawberry French Toast

Lip-smacking French toast is one of the best camping snacks. From kids to adults, everyone would love this delicious food item.

Ingredients

  • 1 Loaf of the bread of your choice
  • 5 eggs
  • ¼ cup almonds (sliced)
  • The container of fresh strawberries (500gm)
  • Icing sugar
  • Roll of Aluminium Foil
  • Roll of Parchment Paper

Home Preparation

  • Wash the strawberries thoroughly and pat dry them
  • Slice the almonds and pack in a zip-lock bag

  • Dice half of the strawberries and slice another half
  • Wrap the loaf in the parchment paper and then in the aluminium foil. Ensure the loaf is wrapped bit loose so the bread slices are bit open
  • Now sprinkle the diced strawberries between the slices of the bread as well as over them
  • After the strawberries, sprinkle the sliced almonds over the loaf like strawberries
  • Beat the 5 eggs thoroughly and pour the mixture evenly on the loaf
  • Now wrap the loaf tightly with the top piece of the foil and ensure there are no leaks
  • Grill it over low to medium heat for about 30-35 minutes
  • For even cooking move it occasionally
  • Remove the loaf from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes
  • Serve the French toast after garnishing with the sliced strawberry and icing sugar 

5. Campfire Slaw

It is a no-cook recipe that goes with everything. You can place it over the burger and make the gourmet.

               Ingredients

  • 1 red bell pepper- thinly sliced-
  • 1 pack of pre-chopped broccoli slaw
  • ½ red onion thinly sliced, rinsed and patted dry
  • 6 tbsp. rice vinegar
  • 6 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp. fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp red chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tbs chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp. cilantro leaves (minced), extra for the garnishing
  • 1 jicama (peeled and julienned)

Home Preparation

  • Cut all the vegetables according to the requirement
  • Add the pre-chopped slaw with the cut vegetable in a large bowl and toss it
  • Now put the mixture of slaw and vegetables into a right-sized zip-lock plastic bag
  • Place the slaw bag in the fridge
  • Mix lime juice, salt, pepper, chilli powder, minced cilantro, vinegar, chilli flakes, sugar and olive oil all together. Add this mixture to another zip-lock bag and ensure it sealed properly
  • Place the dressing mixture in the fridge

  • Take a large zip-lock plastic bag; add the vegetables and dressing
  • Shake everything thoroughly
  • Leave the slaw rest for 10-15 minutes
  • Take the slaw out of the bag and garnish it with the cilantro and fresh herbs
  • Serve the slaw with fish or chicken
